HAIR LOSS MEDICAL TREATMENT

Hair loss prevention medical treatment is fundamental and always necessary regardless of the state of your alopecia. Its purpose is to slow the hair loss, even to stop it. It will also fortify the hair.

But before any treatment, tobacco consumption should be stopped, and factors favoring the loss such as anxiety and stress should be taken into account. In fact, tobacco and stress are important factors that promote hair loss.

To this day, there is no “miracle” treatment that stops the loss of hair and causes hair to grow back. It is the judicious combination of several medical treatments, which will limit hair loss and maintain the postoperative result after a hair transplant at HAIRMEDICAL SWITZERLAND (at Laclinic-Montreux, or at the Beauty Suite in Lausanne, near Geneva).

Minoxidil 2% (mostly used in women) and 5% (rather used in men) is a local hair loss preventive treatment. It has a vasodilator effect that helps slow down hair loss, stimulate their regrowth and increase their diameter.

Finasteride 1 mg (used exclusively in men) is a general preventive treatment. It inhibits one of the processes responsible for the miniaturization of the hair follicles of the scalp, which can slow down or even stop the evolution of the baldness.

In order to evaluate the efficiency of these treatments, a medical consultation should be carried out 4 to 6 months after the beginning of their prescription.

Vitamins, sulfur amino acids and food supplements may be prescribed, especially during a seasonal hair loss period in the fall or spring.

Anti-androgenic treatments will be prescribed in cases of alopecia in the case of female patients with greasy hair (Androcure®, Diane 35®).

Mesotherapy of the scalp consists in micro-injections of active ingredients and micronutrients such as vitamins and minerals into the scalp. It allows both men and women to slow down hair loss and stimulate their regrowth, especially after a seasonal transient hair loss, or as a result of stress, pregnancy or illness.

Mesotherapy can be done apart from a hair transplant or may be associated with this surgical treatment. LED care on the scalp can potentiate the effects of mesotherapy.

Dr. Jean-Charles BAYOL recommends a protocol of two sessions per month (every two weeks) for three months, with a monthly maintenance.

An injection of Plasma Rich Platelet (PRP) also known as Plasma Therapy of the scalp. It consists in an injection of enriched platelets, growth factors and stem cells.

The process is simple: a blood sample makes it possible to recover the substance; Then it is immediately centrifuged in order to extract the platelets; Finally, Dr. Jean-Charles BAYOL reinjects the plasma enriched in platelets in the areas of the scalp that need to be treated.

An injection of PRP can be performed without any hair micro-graft surgical procedure. It increases revascularization and tissue regeneration by stimulating the stem cells present in the bulb of the hair. An injection of platelet concentrate will thus make it possible to increase the diameter of the hair and consequently the general hair density.

An injection of platelet concentrate may be associated with a hair implant surgical procedure. At the level of the grafted zone, the injection will stimulate the healing of the transplanted grafts and will increase their chance of survival. It will also to limit the transient fall of the implanted hair and will increase the diameter and the quality of both grafted hair and remaining hair. Finally, it accelerates the evolution and the quality of the scar in the area where the scalp has been sampled.

Dr. Jean-Charles BAYOL recommends a protocol of three sessions with one-month interval, and an annual maintenance consultation.

The LED photo-lumination of the scalp improves the vitality of the hair and helps decreasing its loss.

LEDs have several effects on the hair and the scalp:

– The luminous stimulation of the LEDs (red light) increases the vascularization of the hair bulbs and activates the stem cells of the dermal papilla. The regrowth of the hair accelerates and it becomes thicker.

– Photo-modulation improves the ingestion and efficiency of vitamins when combined with mesotherapy.

-The LEDs have an anti-inflammatory action on the healing process before and after a hair micro-graft surgical procedure. Pre and post-operative LED sessions with red, yellow and blue lights improve the healing. The cellular photo-modulation they induce accelerates the healing process and reduces the inflammatory phenomena such as redness and irritations.
