The orthognathic surgery aims to reposition the jaws. Thus, the surgeon operates directly on the facial skeleton. This procedure usually follows an orthodontic treatment which is recommended to be continued after the surgery. This surgical act appears consists of two complementary objectives: functional (to improve swallowing, chewing etc.) and aesthetic (to render the face more harmonious).
